...And the next big update is due on Tuesday 19th, with some changes to shards, and critical damage, and other things.  We should be able to choose what maps we enter, instead of Trials being so random. Interestingly, there is a trading option - apparently one can start a special map and set up shop in it, so that visitors can browse and buy stuff.  One way to pass over better armour and weapons, it would seem, if anyone is still interested.

Yeah - Lydia had watched Rep playing enough, and hopefully given him some useful tips on improving his gaming style, so letting her loose with her own character was a logical progression.  Every youngster should have as cool a dad!

...Actually, the patch is now live.  I've claimed my free bank pages, bought a couple more for 640 gems each, and moved everything, except the weapons, armour and accessories that are "L" locked for possible future use by new characters, across... and boy did a game/map load quickly!

In the inventory, one can, as ever, using the right-end tag, peruse all one's shards, say, in alphabetical order, and easily sell off surplus ones... but I don't see such an option in the bank... which is in the town, not the tavern.  I guess it would be pretty simple to "move all" per page across to the inventory temporarily, though it might take a few minutes.

The new bank should be in a patch next week.  If you've a lot of inventory bags, some may transfer to the bank, apparently.  As well as the initial 64-slot bank page, we should get a second one free as long as we log into the game within 2 weeks of the patch going live... and a special "Shutter Shades Flair" cosmetic costume piece too, whatever that is.

So, updating your game and making at least a brief visit next week seems like a good idea!

That "three times the reach" for picking up mana (and other stuff) is only between rounds, in the building phase.  But watching a brief new video by Mr Juicebags, I learnt the next patch is going to bring in a bank for storage, which we always want more of.  Apparently we'll get one 64-slot page free.

One useful side-effect will be that the game ought to load faster, as entering a new map the game won't need to download the items you've left in the bank!

It's a tempting idea, certainly, though the "VR without VR" patch does seem to lessen the overall experience.  No room on my hard drive currently for more games, though if one of the computer manufacturers has an Easter sale, that may change...

Maybe there's be a The Orville VR game to try one day too!

Also it's 60% off on Steam, just £16.

Both may be because it's not had enough users, wth VR still being a niche market, and of course the entire game could be shut down if these measures don't help enough. But still, it's Star Trek and you get to fly a freakin' spaceship!

Not having to get mana from a chest at the start of a building phase takes a little while to get used to, but is handy - and mana left on the ground by deceased goblins can be scooped up more easily, with three times the reach.

Heheh.  I can report that a substantial patch today has added the Barbarian as a hero.  As you might expect, like the Gunwitch he isn't a defence builder, but seems a pretty good melee attacker, able to leap about from one place to another and generally create mayhem.  Yours for the full 12k of medals, or for some of the money-equivalent.

There are some general improvements too - you can choose to start a new character at either level 1 or your highest level, and the shards are now separate from the weapons/armour, so you can easily change to a better item and not have to worry about moving the shards.  Items have a number to indicate how good they are, so if you pick up a piece that says 1500, it's better than your equipped 1450 piece.  And the "items you pick up are based level-wise on what you have equipped" deal is over, instead a higher-level game should drop better stuff. I could even automatically equip my brand-new barbarian character with the best items available in my inventory... with upgrading the shards as well, it cost a lot of in-game gold.  He seems to wield two swords.  I can't say I'm entirely sure how his skills work, but hopefully I'll work it out...
